Teachers who love teaching, teach children to love learning. -Unknown

CESA 8 Director of Communications Dean Leisgang spent some time filming youth apprenticeship students in their work-based learning environment. It's great to see businesses like Metal Works in Gillett getting involved with local school districts by providing hands-on opportunities for students.

Oh, baby, the new CESA 8 gear is awesome, especially when you have a model as good as this one. Thanks to Annie Schumacher, one of our teachers of the visually impaired, for sharing this photo of her son with his new CESA 8 onesie. The future is bright!

CESA 8 Teacher Retention & Induction DPI Project participants recently completed their final training session. Our CESA team is so proud of this group of new special education teachers as they continue to support and positively impact students in our region. They engaged in six face-to-face training sessions and six networking sessions and received six on-site coaching sessions. Twenty-three teachers completed the project from the following school districts: Beecher-Dunbar-Pembine, Bonduel, Crandon, CESA 8, Gillett, Gresham, Niagara, Oconto, Peshtigo, Shawano, Suring, Wabeno, Wausaukee, White Lake, and Wittenberg-Birnamwood. Congratulations to our outstanding special educators!

Check out this opportunity.

May is Mental Health Awareness Month. We will be sharing links to resources throughout the month.

Educators from Shawano, Clintonville, and Florence School Districts recently converged on CESA 8 for the third installment in this year's Assessment Professional Learning series. This session focused on assessing writing across content and grade levels. CESA 8's Jennifer Ambrosius facilitated the session.

Students with visual impairments recently participated in an Expanded Core Curriculum (ECC) lesson at Bay Beach Wildlife Sanctuary. The students practiced their orientation and mobility (O&M) skills while learning about pond habitats using auditory and tactile senses. The outing brought together students from nine different districts receiving vision services provided by CESA 8 Teachers of the Visually Impaired (TVI) and O&M Specialists.

Congratulations to all the Skills USA winners from our local school districts in the recent Wisconsin State Leadership and Skills Conference.

Our own Dean Leisgang recently spent time in the Suring Public School District, filming a video. Dean saw everything from story time with elementary students to science labs with High School students. Great things are happening in this district!

Today, CESA administrators took time to do a book study for professional growth prior to today’s statewide meeting.
